This sweet story begins in a small village in the Alps, between the border of Italy and that of Switzerland. Here is a dairy factory, Latteria di Livigno, which, in addition to the classic products (yogurt, cheese or milk) produces gelato throughout the year; a refreshing preparation consumed especially in summer and less in winter.

Although at first I thought it was just a well-thought-out marketing strategy, this milk-based dessert from „km 0” has a completely different flavor. With a history of almost 70 years, the small factory was initially only a cooperative, then it expanded by keeping the same philosophy, to use as raw material only milk from local farms. Thus, the dessert made here is in the true sense of the word, especially.

At the foot of the mountains, under the ski slopes and at temperatures below 0 ° C, no matter how high the portion of gelato is, customers have time to enjoy the desert, without thinking that it will melt under the sun. I recommend them, fior di latte (an assortment that is not flavored with other ingredients and is the basis of the production of gelato; so you can feel the aroma of milk from which it is made) and yogurt (own production). Of course I chose this recommendation and … I was surprised.

Latteria di Livigno aims to promote and develop the mountain economy. Small milk producers have succeeded in creating a cooperative specializing in local products and beyond. The taste of the milk that comes from cows raised outdoors, on mountain pastures, uncontaminated, is unique. So do the products that are made here: cheese, yogurt and last but not least, gelato. It is a place where man, technology and nature combines perfectly. State-of-the-art machines in the middle of the mountains and promoting a sustainable economy are the visiting card of this factory.

Gourmets, winter sports enthusiasts or winter sports enthusiasts must visit the dairy and enjoy a gelato at the foot of the ski slopes. Winter has just begun and it is still time for a short vacation in the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
